Online Privacy Act passes Judiciary Committee Vote

November 30, 2012. Call it a victory for privacy rights and basic liberties. A coalition of giant internet companies and civil libertarians successfully pushed a revised version of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act through the Senate Judiciary Committee. Over bipartisan establishment opposition, and a last-second attempt to create a loophole by the powerful Committee Chair, the Bill now moves onto the full Senate for a vote.
