“Constitution”, as Foundational, in The Here and Now… Skunks and Chickens and Guns… OH MY!
November 26, 2012 in Resistance
George Washington who was the commander of the continental army that defeated the British and our first President said:
”Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good”.
What Washington also said about standing armies is:
“A standing army in peacetime is the bane of Liberty”
Having read Otter Walks you know I have my own take on the Second Amendment…
Personally, They are tools, you can hurt yourself, or others with tools. LARGELY, tools themselves do not hurt you. My take on the run on sentence that is the Second, is that I have the right of the pursuit of happiness. If it makes me happy to protect my chickens from vermin, then so be it. I like chickens, and where I am now has skunks that were brought here, and have, in this closed environment, changed the micro-natural order. In truth I would use live catch traps first. Yet what do you do with them once caught? The answer is, we are of human form in our waking state mind-set, with effort, one need only, completely skunk, raccoon, dog, hawk, and owl proof the birds as we do have the tech., and are lacking in excuses to not do otherwise. So, I have my pursuit of happiness, without the noise. That does not mean I am anti-gun, there is a time and place. The right tool for a job is the best tool… rationis ad sevocanda
