Now that Obama has been reelected for his second term as President, many have been speculating on where this could lead the economy and where this could lead marijuana: will MJ laws survive until the end of his next term? Although Washington and Colorado passed their own state laws legalizing marijuana for recreational use, according to Justice Department spokesman, Nanda Chitre, “The Department’s enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act remains unchanged,”.

This pushes the whole issue of States Rights, but even Colorado’s own Governor gave some discouragement to the new measure.

Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper, came out raining on the pot parade by saying “Federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don’t break out the Cheetos or Goldfish too quickly.”

President Obama originally promised not to waste Justice Department resources on cannabis dispensary raids,[3] basically insinuating that there were bigger fish to fry and that he would defer to state laws. Since Obama’s initial pro stance, Obama crudely flip flopped on the issue and has become the worst President on Marijuana, BY FAR! Yes, even though he said “I inhaled frequently, that was the point.”

  1. It’s a popular drug! Legal or not people will use it and grow it. It can not be regulated, I live in California pot is everywhere! All they can do is remove it from the war on drugs and focus on the other drugs the CIA is selling in our country!

  2. Obama has a meeting on the 27th of November with the president of Mexico and the subject of legalization WILL be brought up. Mexico has sided with Washington D.C. all of these years because Washington has paid them to be. Mexico is hurting for money as much as any other country, and they want the tax dollars that they can raise from the sale of it. Face it, they will make more money from taxing it than Washington will give them, and they know it. Mexico knows as well as anyone else that the dollar is very close to collapsing, and they want to hedge their bets.
It is very possible that it will be legalized accross the board as ‘We The People’ have spoken, and our neighbor to the south will most likely support us on this issue.

  3. I wrote and am currently writing about aspects of marijuana legislation, as pot prohibition it is as harmful to our rights as alcohol prohibition was.
