Senator Johnson,
I am writing in reference to a news article found at http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/traffic/traffic_news/fhp-announces-daytime-driver-license-vehicle-inspection-checkpoints
The article states that the State of Florida has authorized and is funding state highway patrol officers setup checkpoints along roads and conduct unwarranted searches and seizures. As I am sure you are aware, this is in direct violation of the 4th Amendment to the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution, which states: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
I appreciate your support in defending the constitution in the past, and beg of you to continue supporting the individual rights of the people of the United States. Please do not let these checkpoints go into effect.
It may sound a bit absurd, but these are the times in which we now live. This act by the State of Florida, should be considered an act of secession from the Union. This state is actively engaged in acts that violate the rights of the people enumerated in the Constitution.
The state government of Florida needs to immediately cease and desist from these actions. Please encourage them to do so. Give them one week, and if they do not comply, freeze all state government assets, cut all federal funding to the state and send in ground troops to ensure the innocent civilians in the State of Florida are protected from the unconstitutional government that has taken over their lands.
You swore an oath to defend the constitution, I urge you to hold true to your oath.
