Everest Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek
April 12, 2017 in Outdoors
A somewhat longer variation of the great Everest Base Camp trek taking in the turquoise Gokyo lakes and a climb of Gokyo Ri.
Two days after the energizing flight from Kathmandu, arriving at the mountain airstrip at Lukla, we land at the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. Here we rest and adjust before trekking to Thyangboche Monastery. Our first November takeoff will go to the exuberant Mani Rimdu celebration held here.
Presently the genuine trek to Everest Base Camp starts, and from Lobuche we will right off the bat trek to Everest Base Camp itself before climbing the rough outcrop of Kala Pattar, on the next day, 5,545m/18,192ft, to look down on the base camp of the world’s most noteworthy pinnacle and into the popular Western Cwm. Next comes the energizing intersection of the Cho La, 5,400m/17,700ft, that leads from Everest over to Gokyo. A rising of adjacent Gokyo Ri, 5,357m/17,575ft, gives more fabulous perspectives of Everest and the delightful turquoise Gokyo lakes.
