Get to know the Outdoors
January 24, 2013 in Outdoors
I encourage all of you reading this to think, plan and prepare for leaving your comfortable surroundings and surviving in the outdoors. Many
Alex Jones listeners like me stopped going to the movies, watching T.V. and ditched their cell phones. In thinking about how bad will our future be, creative thinking takes hold regarding how to counter moves by goons who will call themselves authority. After reading several articles by Brandon Smith, I took most of his advice. My exception was the the outdoors!
Getting to know the outdoors, meaning places to go that are too difficult for vehicles to get to, and there is a source of water. One guy I know says that when TSHTF, he will simply drive to his house in the mountains. That house, has an address, a paved road leading to it and power lines. If he can get there so can the enemy in an armored vehicle. A bug out location with no address, paved road or power lines is in my opinion far better than a cabin in mountains were tourist always go.
One important question is, what are we running from? Is it armed gangs roaming around looking for food? Could it be foreign troops and American sellout (DHS) troops hunting us down to disarm us, and put us in FEMA camps? To me it does not matter! The farther away from unprepared people and foreign troops the safer I’ll feel.
so in my forays into the wilderness, I have located sources of water that are too small to appear on maps yet large enough for a small group to survive. I have viewed rock formations and side canyons that provide excellent cover and concealment. I have ID, edible plants and recorded elevations for growing purposes.
I highly encourage all of you to do the same.

I like your thoughts, but what about when winter hits? Or when you start a fire to eat or keep warm? If you had a cabin in the woods you wouldn’t worry about when the winter hits. When the armored vehicles come you can run into the woods and hide. Plus you should stick around small groups of people, what’s the sense of surviving if you just die of old age. If you have a wife with you and children who will they breed with? Don’t get me wrong your skills are very important, but it could only be temporary.

Thanks for your response. You bring up good points. I have thought about that. It is winter right now and we have warm clothes, methods to start fire and such. Unlike most of the country, we get really cold for three months before it warms up. Unlike other preppers, my plan is not to turn away people who need our help. My plan is, animal, mineral and vegetable. Meaning, in remote locations around here, there are old homesteads long abandon. 1. grow editable food.2 When animals come to eat, instead of killing them, catch them and start raising them. 3. There are minerals around here that were once use by everybody, Talc, borax, and salt. This method can be replicated, and trade with others will be possible. The issue not mentioned is just how bad will it get. To what extent with killers in uniform try to eliminate us. I take the extreme view. That the government plan is to, disarm us, eliminate those who can’t be re-educated, house us in mega cities, feed us GMO food to slowly kill us. Our removal from small towns are to make way for the Chinese, Germans and Russians to come in and take large portions of our land to use for their populations. I say, F them!

Well at least you have thought it out as much as possible. I hoping that when “whatever happens”. I’m hoping to go to my “house” in the woods. I do have a driveway, however I don’t think they will come after me and if they do I will hear them coming at least 5 min before they get there. I have been studying edible plants and plan to take a survival course this summer. I hope to trade with the closest town which is 15 min drive. So where are these abandoned homesteads?

All over the Western states. One example is the Barker ranch. Barker ranch was the hide out of the Charles Manson gang. It is located way the heck out in the desert! Not that I would go there but, I have heard hunters tell stories of abandon homesteads, ghost towns and such in far off remote places. Some locations are marked on maps, while others have just a water tank. and corral and not pinpointed on any map. Not marked on maps are old wagon trail stops where springs are located.
