Summer is just around the corner, and the only thing we can think of is to enjoy endless days soaking up the sun. The Mediterranean Sea has some of the best beaches in the world. France is one of the best areas in Europe, with a large offer of accommodation perfect for unforgettable holidays in the sea. On today post we have created a list of the Top 5 beaches in South of France, sorted by areas: Montpellier region, Provence and the French Riviera.

Beaches in Montpellier area

Palavas-les-Flots, which occupies approximately 6 kilometres, is the closer beach to Montpellier. The beach is part of a tourist destination on the coast with the same name, built on sand dunes. The town is fascinating with a vast array of seafood restaurants and leisure offer; unfortunately, during the summer, the beach is too crowded and it’s hard to spot a place for the towel.

Another fabulous choice is the Beach de l’Espiguette near Le Grau-du-Roi, east of Montpellier. The beach of l’Espiguette is a huge deserted sandy beach, very close to the Camargue National Park. The beach is perfect to those looking to enjoy a good day at the beach and avoid the crowds.

Beaches of Provence

Marseille, the second city of France in importance, is famous for many things but for its beaches. For a strange reason, people never associate Marseille with the beach and it’s a shame because the area nearby area of Marseille features lovely sandy beaches. One of the most popular beaches of the city is Borély Beach, very close to Borély Park. In addition to being a stunning sandy beach, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, also has a large array of leisure activities like volleyball.

Another area of Marseille that worth a mention are Frioul Islands. These group of four islands can be easily reached by boat from the old port of the city. These islands are a fabulous option to escape from the bustle of the city.

However, the cherry on the cake are “Las Calas”. Thanks to the extraordinary topography of the area, these deep valleys features a unique coastline only reachable by boat. Also, you can visit the beautiful village of Cassis and discover L’Ille de Riou, which is perfect for divers enthusiasts.

Beaches on the French Riviera

Do you want to be a millionaire for a day? The peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat features one of the most beautiful beaches on the French Riviera, Paloma Beach. This beach is a very popular vacation spot for celebrities such as Angelina Jolie. No wonder why, the beach seems to be taken from a postcard.

We cannot fail to mention Cannes, home to the most famous beaches on the French Riviera. Also, no list with the best beaches in the South of France is complete, without mentioning Saint Tropez. The famous tourist area on the coast attracts many celebrities and millionaires every summer. The most famous beach of the area is Pampelonne Beach, no wonder why, this beach has everything you are looking for during holidays. Pampelonne Beach features nearly 3 miles of white sand beaches with turquoise waters and with the most glamorous areas for a backdrop.
