I just signed a petition that I received in my email from change.org. Afterwards a few recommended petitions popped up, this one was the first one…

Tell Bob Costas: Thanks for taking a stand against gun violence

NBC sportscaster Bob Costas spoke up about the epidemic of gun violence in America. Let’s support Costas for having the courage of his convictions. Send him a message right now.

Targeting: Bob Costas
Sponsored by: Mayors Against Illegal Guns

Recently on Sunday Night Football, NBC sportscaster Bob Costas spoke up about the epidemic of gun violence in America.

He was addressing an incident from late November, when Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher took his own life at Arrowhead Stadium after shooting and killing the mother of their three-month-old baby.

It’s a tragedy. And when so many gun murders go unnoticed by our media and ignored by our leaders in Washington, it’s important to recognize public figures like Costas who have the courage to tell it like it is.

Will you send a note to Bob Costas thanking him for having the guts to stand up? We’ll make sure he gets it.

Make no mistake – Bob Costas will also hear from those who believe that discussions of gun violence have no place in our public discourse.

The truth is that common-sense reform of our gun laws, like background checks, would save many lives. And working together, we’ll get there. But first, we need Washington and the media to recognize the problem, and to participate in a national conversation about our gun laws – one that President Obama called for in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona.

Help us make sure Mr. Costas hears from people who believe we have a responsibility to end the violence that takes the lives of 34 Americans each and every day.

Let’s support Costas for having the courage of his convictions. Send him a message right now.

Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Ben Franklin and their cohorts are the ones who gave almost every person in the country the right to carry a gun — why are they above being wrong ?

It is far too late to change that, But that stats are staggering – 83 PER DAY die as a result of gun play — So 30,295 DIE EACH YEAR by guns — 1,211,800 Americans have died as a result of guns ( all causes ) – in the last 40 years — JUST since the end of the Vietnam War 40 years ago

THAT 1,211,800 is more than ALL the soldiers we have lost in battle IN ALL the wars we have EVER fought Going back to 1776 – That IS fact —— did those men and women die so we can continue to kill each other ????? That does not make much sense……

Even IF 1 % of those who have died in JUST the past 40 years alone were from Justifiable causes – that is still 12,118. — Which is more than the population of most small towns OR 303 per year ( not quite 1 per day )………. Maybe you’ll be that one today.

The right to bear arms was given in the late 1700′s because at the time we did not have a standing Army and our founders perceived a need for more defense from other nations and they conjured up “an armed civilian / private militia” was the best way to do that.

Some Uneducated ( Gun Supporters ) Always say – the right to bears arms is to protect the population from the Government. Why would the Government Allow People the right to have guns IF they might use them against that same government ?????

I own a gun myself – Don’t step foot in my home…… Unless invited…………..

see my Face Book Profile ( Finding Missing ) for my articles on how we can stop crime — ALL THE ACLU advocates will be ripping me apart — OH WELL…… Let ‘em come….. Lock and Load
