Alex Jones Vs Piers Morgan On Gun Control Live On CNN
January 9, 2013 in Guns
PIERS Morgan managed to keep his calm in the face of an explosive rant during an interview for his TV show.
Morgan interviewed Alex Jones, the man who set up a petition to have him PIERS Morgan deported from America over his views on gun control, on his CNN show.
But instead of giving an interview, the furious Jones bulldozed verbally non-stop at Morgan for nearly 15 minutes – and even offered to FIGHT him in a boxing ring.
Morgan invited Jones to appear so they could debate the issue of gun control in America in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre that saw children and adults shot to death at an elementary school.
Jones was filled with rage as he screamed at Morgan: “I’m here to tell you, 1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms.
“It doesn’t matter how many lemmings you get out there on the street begging for them to have their guns taken.
“We will not relinquish them.”
In his fiery rage, alex Jones went on to blame anti-depressant drug Prozac as a source of death in the world, labelling them “suicide mass murder pills.”
He said: “I wanna blame the real culprit – suicide pills. Mass murder pills.”
Despite Morgan’s best efforts, he was barely able to get a word in with Jones answering his questions about why people needed automatic weapons.
The end of the interview ended in bizarre fashion when Jones put on an English accent to mock piers Morgan.
He finished off saying: “It’s to point out you’re a foreigner, you’re a redcoat here telling us what to do.”
The petition to deport Morgan has now got over 100,000 signatures.
On Monday, the White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded to the petition to deport Morgan.
“The White House responds to all petitions that cross the threshold and we will respond to this one. In the meantime, it is worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy,” Carney said
In the segment immediately after the Alex Jones interview, featuring lawyer Alan Dershowitz who is strongly opposed to firearms ownership and the Second Amendment, and supports repealing the amendment , Morgan reacted to the interview, describing Jones as “rambling” and “unhinged.”
Morgan told Dershowitz right at the outset that people like Jones are precisely why he’s “so concerned about the lack of gun control.” He described Jones as “pathological” and “unhinged,” and noted the irony of how rude Jones appeared to him, when Morgan is normally accused of being rude to and interrupting his guests by critics. He said he tried to stay calm all throughout the interview and Jones’ “ranting.”
Dershowitz described Jones as an “exhibit” of someone who a reasonable person could look at and say they don’t want that particular individual to have a gun. He told Morgan that he would feel uncomfortable having an argument with Jones in his home, considering his temper and the fact he has 50 guns at his disposal.
Morgan expressed concern with Jones’ particular influence, with millions of people listening to his “nonsense.” Dershowitz dismissed Jones as a crazed conspiracy theorist, and credited Morgan for exposing his ramblings to a general audience.
After playing a clip of the interview, Morgan said Jones isn’t interested in the “nuances” of the debate, he just wants to make his point without hearing any evidence to the contrary.
