While many courtroom judges are benevolent, many aren't. And some know that much of what they are doing is wrong and corrupt but do it anyway. Further, because Maritime Admiralty Law is in effect during criminal cases (as proof by the gold fringe on the US flags in the courtrooms) the judges are technically not judges, but bankers.
