If Bollywood comedies pique your interest, you have come to right place. We have compiled a list of the top four comedies which we believe will lift your mood and leave your imagination running wild!


Arguably one of the top Hindi movies of all time, Padosan released in 1968 and is a cult classic. Based on a simple premise, this movie revolves around the lead protagonist, Sunil Dutt falling head over heels in love with his neighbor Saira Banu and his subsequent attempts to sweep her off her feet. Featuring some noteworthy comedians of that era including Mehmood, Kishore Kumar, Raj Kishore, Mukri and Keshto Mukherjee, the film was a massive hit at the time and is still remembered for its famous song, “Ek chatur naar”. To describe this movie as an entertaining and amusing film would be an understatement.

2.Andaz Apna Apna

No list comprising of the top Hindi comedies can be complete without the inclusion of Andaz Apna Apna. A movie for all ages, this movie is undoubtedly is one of the classics of Indian cinema. The film has an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, this movie was released on 4th November 1994 and surprisingly didn’t too well at the box office. That didn’t seem to matter as its fan following has only increased over the years due to its mad-comedy-drama and confusion. There’s also a great camaraderie and unforgettable dialogues exchanged between Aamir and Salman, which makes it all the more enjoyable.

3.Gol Maal

A rib-tickling flick, ‘Gol Maal’ (1979) is directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and will draw a constant smiling curve on your face. Starring stalwarts such as Amol Palekar, Utpal Dutt, Bindiya Goswami and Deven Verma, this film is ideal for a lazy Sunday along with a bowl of popcorn. With a simple premise which revolves around Amol Palekar on the lookout for a job and Utpal Dutt despising men without a mustache, the film set the benchmark in Hindi movies and is now regarded as one of the classic comedies of Indian cinema. Fun down to the last millisecond.

4.Hera Pheri

Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri was an out and out entertainer. Released in 2000, this movie had a multi-star cast comprising of Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Tabu. Though it is a remake of a Malayalam movie, this film was well received by moviegoers and it’s the effortless comedic treatment that the actors gave their roles is what made this movie truly shine. When you watch movies online do not miss out on the hilarious performances of the main cast, especially Paresh Rawal, whose character was so well crafted that it will leave you in splits.
