Chandigarh, the spick and span city, is the prestigious pride of the developing India. Its architecture was designed by the Swiss-French architect, Le Corbusier, who said–

“The seed of Chandigarh is well sown. It is for the citizens to see that the tree flourishes”.

Well, his dream is kept alive in the most fascinating manner! One cannot be more astounded at the crème de la crème features of Chandigarh- the cleanest, wealthiest, happiest, smartest, and the first smoke-free city in India. Not only this, Chandigarh is also the city with the highest per capita income, first rank in Human Development Index, highest forest cover, and largest number of vehicles per capita in India.

It is a perfect amalgam of modernisation, cultural growth, the best planned architecture, co-existing with nature’s preservation, which make it a perfect city of India! Covering a total area of 114 sq km, it is well connected by the excellent network of roadways and one can easily catch a Delhi to Chandigarh cab, or a public bus. It is also connected by the Indian Railways network.

From extreme heat, to unpredictable rains, Chandigarh is eminent for unveiling its shades of varying climates.

Situated at the Shivalik range of Himalayas, it has a mystical stretch of flora and fauna. It has an array of sectors, which are mushroomed with gardens, offering lush green belts to the city. One needs to take a break from the monotony of the mundane city life, and sit in the laps of the famous gardens, like the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden,The Rock Garden, the Bougainvillea Garden, the Terraced Garden and a lot more.

The Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, named after the former Indian president Zakir Hussain is the largest rose garden in Asia. The Rock Garden, also known as Nek Chand’s Rock Garden is carved out of scrap materials like bangles, electrical wastes, tiles, ceramic pots, bottles’ glass etc. recycled to make sculptures and statues. Away from the bustle of the city, is the tranquil Sukhna Lake, which is the abode for thousands of exotic migratory birds, which visit here in winters. It is also a hotspot for various festivities, the most famous being the Mango festival.

Chandigarh IT Park and Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park are a few of the city’s attempt to break into the IT world.

With the plethora of the most fantastic attributes under its belt, Chandigarh is still accelerating in its journey to become the most exquisite cities of the world. After all, a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step! So, now that you know all the best things about this city as well as how to reach Chandigarh (which is to say, by train, air, or road), just plan a nice itinerary and go on a nice vacation with your dear ones.

Have a great trip!
