Knowing our God The Nature of Prophecy

The Nature of Prophecy
If I may , I would like to offer another perspective on the nature and the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. I was at first under the impression that prophecy was something like unto someone looking into a crystal ball, seeing visions of the future, then writing them down to await some future fulfillment. I have since come to learn that biblical prophecy is more dynamic and active, and more powerful than that. Bible prophecy consist of men, inspired by God, recording words which God wants spoken, and God by his power ”fulfilling” this spoken word and bringing to pass what he has declared and recorded in the Word of God. It’s not about visions and predictions of the future. it’s about bringing about the future It’s about bringing his words to pass, whether spoken or written. It’s about God cashing the checks he moved and inspired his prophets to write.
All the events occurring in the days of Christ were in fulfillment of the Old Testament Word of God and the prophecies thereof. The prophecies, which ”were until John the baptist” and the preaching of the kingdom, as stated by Jesus, were fulfilled and brought to pass in the lives of the Jesus and the New Testament saints; culminating in the ad70 destruction of Jerusalem. Thus the ”range and scope” of the prophetic word of the Old Testament prophets extended until John and the proclaiming of the gospel of the kingdom. The ”range and scope” of the prophetic discourse of Jesus on the mount of Olives (Mt. 24) extended to and culminated in the ”lives of those standing there”. Which seems to suggest at first appearance that there’s no prophetic word from God ”to be fulfilled and brought to pass” whose range and scope encompasses our lives and our times.
Well rejoice my friend, because the Apostle John was told in the book of Revelation, that ”you must prophesy again”; and this prophecy was given for us, the people of the earth, as ”The Word” to be brought to pass and fulfilled in our lives. Revelation chapter 10 reveals to us thru symbolism the giving and the sending forth of the prophetic word of the salvation work of the Risen Christ seated upon the throne in heaven. This chapter reveals to us the source of the words to be fulfilled (the prophecy), the reasons for the prophetic word, and the completive nature of the prophecy. The scope of the earlier and latter Old Testament prophecies were ”local” and centered on the nation of Israel and Jerusalem. The scope of the prophecies of Jesus were ”extended unto the ends of the earth” (the range of the Gospel) and centered on the Apostles and those who followed on after Timothy and not the one who came in his own name. But notice: the prophecies given unto the Apostle John were given for the ”whole world”, for the command by the Angel with the little book open was that he (John) must prophesy again before ”many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings”.
The ”outcome” of Old Testament prophecies were the ”destruction of the bad and the bringing forth of the good” out of the nation of Israel. The outcome of the prophetic discourse of Jesus was the ”destruction of the bad and the bringing forth of the good” out of the Church of God resulting in the creation of a “new heavens” and “temple of spiritual understanding”, and an eternal heavenly ruling class (The spirits of just men made perfect or complete in the things of God). The ”outcome” of the New Testament prophecies of John will be the ”destruction of the bad in our lives and the bringing forth of the good” out of this present sinful world, the creation of a ”New Earth”, the shadow of the ”New heavens” wherein dwelleth righteousness and the spirits of just men made perfect, and the earthly ”Kingdom of God” established upon the earth.
I tell you this because much confusion has resulted in men merging these separate and distinct sets of prophecy and then trying to makes sense of it all and their fulfillment. It’s the things that ”must shortly come to pass” as the words of this prophecy (Revelation) that we are ”commanded to keep” in order to receive the blessing. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh, says the writer to the Hebrews. For if they escaped not who refused him that ”spake on earth”, (they escaped not the judgment of God as outlined in the prophetic discourse of Jesus on the Mount of Olives), much more shall not we escape (judgment), if we turn away from him that ”speaketh from heaven”, ( thru the prophetic commission given unto the Apostle John by the Mighty Angel of Rev. 10, which is clearly representative of the risen Christ in heaven speaking). Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, “signifieth” the” removing of those things that are shaken”, as of things that are made, ”that those things which cannot be shaken may remain”. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. (Heb 12:25-29)
I know this view of Bible prophecy will trigger the defensive thoughts of many. Mainly because this view brings under suspicion the many doomsday scenarios of the earthly-minded. Men so single-mindedly looking for signs of devils and beasts, that they overlook and miss the ”Power of God and the ”Hand of God” being revealed unto them. Again the driving force behind my arguments as in all that I write is to declare the absolute importance of the Revelation of Jesus Christ for our times and to show you the way to the understanding of it’s mysteries. For the prophecy of our times was was delivered unto a spiritually-minded man (the Apostle John), caught up to a spiritual place (Heaven) and commission by a “great” spiritual agency (the risen Christ ). Therefore the range, scope and the discriminative judgments (the removal of the bad) are to be spiritually discerned to be properly comprehended and requires spiritual illumination and understanding. One must first use the key provided by the “Father” and be taught of the “Son” before a door to heaven and the spiritual understanding can be opened. And you shall see also, all the things reserved in Heaven for us, in the day when the meek shall come to inherit the earth.
Once more, the driving force behind my arguments, as in all that I write, is to declare the absolute importance of the Revelation of Jesus Christ for our times and to show you the way to the understanding of it’s mysteries. So that the day may come when you shall say; ”I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my ”eye” seeth you”…
